OH! SUSSANNA(SILK SAREE)

STORY:

Perhaps she loved the song more than any other song, because she hummed it more than she spoke, expressed herself as the Sussanna of the song, dreamt of the boy in her teenage and the man, later going to absurd lengths to get her attention. But then Sussanna was all of that and much more, she was pop and folk, she was a tall-tale nonsense, yet it mattered, for it passed down from her mother to her. “Oh! Susanna” would still be her pop cry, of herself more than anyone else: confessions presented as emotions, a vague yearning for more disguised as human love. And in that last line, “And when I’m dead and buried / Susanna don’t you cry”, Susanna became an idea, a large part of a prize to be rescued, a goal to be achieved and not necessarily a real person to be consoled.
