Inspired by the recent stand-up by Vir Das, “Two India”, contents whereof have been debated by some and laughed off by others, set me thinking about the two woman in me. A woman who strives for identity and the other who strives for womanhood. The woman in me fights for the two decades of my living to not put myself and any woman into a stereotype, conveniently a patriarchy defined stereotype. I wince at the common notion that minor differences in male and female brains lead to the way men and women are thought of and that some sort of gendered destiny is encoded in us. I am aware of my emotions and my emotional sensitivity is mine and mine alone.
