Beaming in excitement as we would reach Nalbari station, cause we knew that we would be welcomed for lunch with some rarely tasted Assamese delicacies. The lane leading to her home, shading us with the huge coconut trees and her compound smelling of nice ripe mangoes; she would welcome us in her simple light weighted painted sarees with shower of tender kisses. In those days we wanted to learn painting so we could create the simple yet elegant sarees that our maasi wore. Throughout our life, we have seen her being lot more excited on our achievements, on our cousin’s achievements; at times more than what we were.

We would await for our school vacations to come so that we could meet her
