Shankha or coonch are blown before and during every Puja. According to Varaha Puran, the atmosphere is filled with three types of frequencies which are sattva, rajas and tamas. The rajas and tamas are said to cause distress, which gets removed on blowing the shankha. Even these days, blowing the shankha is considered auspicious as well as healthy for your respiration, speech and heart.
